Noted by The New York Times for his elegant playing, clarinetist and composer Vicente Alexim is a core member of Contemporaneous, a New York-based ensemble focusing on music by living composers. Vicente has been featured as soloist in performances of John Adams’ Gnarly Buttons in Carnegie Hall, and of his Concerto de Câmara with the Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira Jovem.
The 2011 winner of Festival Tinta Fresca and the 2015 winner of the Robert Starer Composition Award, Vicente has received commissions by the Orquestra Filarmônica de Minas Gerais and Contemporaneous, among others. His compositions have been featured in numerous music festivals, including the Bard Music Festival, and the Bienal de Música Brasileira Contemporânea.
